MICHIGAN TECH, PCMI
Michigan Tech has a very strong Peace Corps Masters International Program. During service, students have conducted projects in geohazards, forestry, civil engineering, and science education (and, as of May 2010, biological sciences). As more of the 2010 cohort starts to receive Peace Corps assignments, their websites and blogs will be posted here. These links to personal webpages are a great way to learn more about Michigan Tech’s PCMI programs.

Dan Smith (Groundwater Engineering)
Dan will be serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in El Salvador with his wife Rachael. Dan completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Michigan Tech (’10) , and he hopes to conduct his Peace Corps and thesis work in the field of ground water engineering. Rachael completed her undergraduate degree at Michigan State.

<UPDATE> Dan, Rachael, and several El Salvador Volunteers have opted to close their service early due to increasing security threats in the country and across Central America. Peace Corps programs in Honduras and Guatemala are scaling back programs for similar reasons. Best of luck to Dan and Rachael as well as the people of Latin America. </>
Tyler Barton (Volcanology)
Tyler is also serving in El Salvador but will be focusing on volcanology. A website or a blog may be coming soon.
